STARTING MY OWN RESCUE… WITH GRACE
I haven’t always wanted my own rescue. Why do that when I can foster for different organizations and not have to take the risk myself? But, I was honestly paying for so much of their care myself (with the exception of vaccines and spay/neuter) so, why not just take the plunge and do it all on my own?
With the support and nudging of my husband and some very special friends, I stopped letting fear control my decisions and jumped in the deep end.
When I was deciding on a name, I knew I wanted it to be something very special. Something that described my mission and my reason for my rescue. My friend Jen asked me which kitten made the biggest impact on me, and it was a very easy answer, Grace. Grace was a kitten I rescued in 2018 from a hot Las Vegas garage in the summertime. She had Manx syndrome and couldn’t walk. Her bladder and feces needed to be expressed constantly. I spent so much time at my veterinarian’s office with her, trying to learn how to care for her (she was an extremely complex case). Grace ultimately passed away, but I made her a promise that I would never forget her and I would make her proud (you can read more about Grace in my post about compassion fatigue).
So, I knew I wanted the name to have Grace in it. My husband and I went to lunch, on his birthday, and just started scribbling names on the paper tablecloth. I just kept coming back to the same name. I asked a couple friends and my board members which name they liked best. With Grace just made sense to everyone.
I believe everything in life, you must do With Grace. Everything. Especially in rescue.
So, my little Grace will be with me, in everything I do. Her life will never be forgotten. I will rescue and save so many… With Grace.
It’s terrifying taking on all of the financial responsibility myself. I have big plans for the future, but it all depends on how much people believe in me and support my efforts. Someone once told me… in rescue, money doesn’t talk, it screams! That could not be more true.
I realize there are a lot of people who can not do what I’m doing, for whatever reason. BUT, you can help save the babies right along side of me. I’m willing to put in the blood, sweat and tears (all quite literally) but, I need help. There are several ways to help (which are all tax deductible!)…
A physical donation. You can purchase from my amazon wishlist items the rescue and the kitties need.
A financial donation. This one is HUGE! There are several ways to donate. I tried to make it as easy as possible with several different options. (Reoccurring monthly donations are available on Donorbox… so easy!)
Amazon Smile. This one doesn’t cost you anything at all. Just simply choose With Grace as your charity and Amazon will make a donation every time you shop. Just be sure to use www.smile.amazon.com every time you shop.
Your support truly helps me save lives, I couldn’t do it without you.
